IEAH Stables’ I’ve Got the Fever, trained by John Terranova II, most recently finished seventh, beaten 15 ¾ lengths, in the Grade 3, $250,000 Gotham Stakes at Aqueduct on Saturday, March 6. I’ve Got the Fever, with Channing Hill up at odds of 15.60-1, broke fourth from post position 5, seemed a bit rank into and around the first turn, then settled outside and failed to keep up as the field proceeded down the backstretch. Wow Wow Wow (22.85, 46.60) and Three Day Rush (1:11.90) set the fractions and gave out to finish eighth and ninth, respectively. Awesome Act, seventh early, rallied through traffic and strongly off the turn for home, drove clear to a three-length stretch lead (1:37.34), and proved best by a measured 1 ¼ lengths over Yawanna Twist. Nacho Friend finished another 1 ¾ lengths back in third. Awesome Act ($7.70 as the favorite), a colt by Awesome Again – Houdini’s Honey, by Mr. Prospector completed 1 1/16 miles in 1:43.85 over a fast inner dirt track and earned a 98 Beyer Speed Figure; I’ve Got the Fever received a 71. The Equibase chart for the race read, “I’ve Got the Fever checked in traffic early, raced up close for five furlongs and tired.” He earned $1,000 in purses. The race was open to 3-year-olds and attracted a field of 10. I've Got the Fever most recently was scratched from the $96,000 Spend a Buck Stakes at Monmouth Park on Sunday, May 23. Ibboyee posted a half-length win in the race, completed the one mile and 70 yards in 1:43.10 over a fast main track, and earned a 95 Beyer Speed Figure. He paid $6.60 to win.
