Ooh Yeah, owned by IEAH Stables and others and trained by Donald Chatlos Jr., lost her rider at the break when she stumbled at the start of her most recent race, a $58,070 allowance purse at Hollywood Park on Sunday, December 9. Ooh Yeah, 21.10-1 in the betting, with jockey Michael Baze up stumbled leaving the gate from post position 4 and lost her rider. “I was sick about this because she looked so great in the paddock and we were looking forward to this race,” Chatlos said recently. “Baze said that she got so revved up and was feeling so good in the gate that she just flew out of there. Her hind end basically outbroke her front, she stumbled, and that was the end of that.” Baze and Ooh Yeah were uninjured. Overly Tempting led from start to finish on the pace (21.63, 43.85, 55.73) and proved best by a half-length over Rare Exchange, with Intangaroo another 2 ˝ lengths back in third. Rare Exchange was favored at .70-1. Overly Tempting completed six furlongs in 1:08.55 over a fast main track and received a 93 Beyer Speed Figure. She is a 4-year-old daughter of In Excess – Contemptible, by Something Lucky, and returned $19 to win. The Equibase chart for the race read, “Ooh Yeah stumbled at the start and lost the rider. The stewards conducted an inquiry into the start before ruling Ooh Yeah was the cause of her own trouble.” She earned $400 in purses. Sierra Nostra was scratched. A field of 10, fillies and mares ages 3 and up, which have never won $7,500 other than maiden, claiming, or starter, or which have never won two races, started. LAST UPDATED: December 17, 2007 |
